Reiki During Pregnancy

Reiki During Pregnancy

Reiki is a hands on healing technique from Japan which facilitates a state of deep relaxation to promote balance and healing in the body. Wherever the energy is needed it goes.  The gentle nature of Reiki during pregnancy makes it especially beneficial to expectant mothers’  and can relieve the physical discomforts of pregnancy from morning sickness to back ache and helps relieve uncomfortable symptoms that occur while a mother undergoes changes in her body.  The most important beneficial aspect of Reiki during pregnancy is that it is 100% safe and does not interfere with conventional treatment.

During a Reiki treatment people often drift off to sleep and many women report to me a very deep sense of relaxation afterwards as sleep can be difficult at night for lots of women especially as the pregnancy progresses.  Reiki provides emotional as well as physical support and works not only on the mother, but also on the child.

Reiki During PregnancyPregnancy can be a time of great change for the expectant mother with lots of hormonal changes in their bodies which can be exacerbated by fatigue and mood changes.  Most women report an increase in energy after a Reiki session and more importantly less stressed and a balance within themselves which was not there previously.

Reiki During Birth

Reiki can also provide a non- invasive relief of pain during contractions and can reduce anxiety during labour. Many hospitals worldwide have staff trained in Reiki  and research states that women who have Reiki heal faster and with less pain (1).  A research study at Hartford Hospital, Connecticut indicates that Reiki improved patient sleep by 86 percent, reduced pain by 78 percent, reduced nausea by 80 percent, and reduced anxiety during pregnancy by 94 percent(2). Check with your hospital if they provide the service of Reiki during your confinement.  I have also witnessed the beauty of Reiki for the new arrival and how it helps them to orient themselves to their new world.

Reiki After Delivery

It takes some time for a woman’s body to return to normal following childbirth and Reiki can provide great healing in the first few weeks of adjustment and enable women to get back on their feet sooner.  This can be especially important for the percentage of women who may experience post-partum depression.

Reiki can help support you to have a healthy, happy and centred pregnancy.

Why not give it a try?
